As a creative non-fiction writer and lifestyle photographer I contribute words and images to magazines, newspapers, online journals and book publishers focusing on stories about outdoor adventures, nature, gardens and wellbeing.

I collaborate with small businesses and independent creatives, makers and producers to create written and visual content for online and print platforms that tells their story and showcases their products and services.

After spending most of my life in SW England (Cornwall, Bristol and North Devon) I’m now based in Ireland, but regularly travel to and work in the UK.

On Photography

I specialise in nature, garden and outdoor lifestyle photography. My work is all shot on location and almost always using natural light.

I enjoy storytelling photography that takes the viewer behind the scenes to show, for example, the creative process, from initial sketch to finished product, or the product journey, from field to fork. While simplicity and minimalism, with an emphasis on shape, form, colour and space, inspires and influences my nature, garden and landscape photography.

On Writing

I am the author of the National Trust’s North Devon Coast & Countryside guidebook, which was published in 2018. Over the years I’ve written feature articles, interviews, reviews, essays, round-ups and travel features for various publications, including BBC Countryfile, Guardian Labs, i newspaper, The Simple Things, Photography Monthly and Waterfront (Canal and River Trust). Examples of my published work can be viewed in my online portfolio.

Currently I’m researching and writing a book for National Trust Books about immersive outdoors adventures in Britain’s wild places, which will be published in 2020.

My career started in the magazine publishing industry where I held editorial positions as picture editor (Wanderlust and BBC Countryfile) and assistant editor (Boat International) before turning freelance. Visit my LinkedIn profile for a full career biography.
