Tor is an experienced writer, photographer and picture editor, and the author of the National Trust’s North Devon Coast & Countryside guidebook (2018). She writes articles for various publications and organisations, including BBC Countryfile, Guardian Labs, National Trust, i newspaper, The Simple Things, Wild Travel, Photography Monthly and Waterfront (Canal and River Trust).
With 14 years’ experience as a picture editor she has a knack for sourcing and selecting the best images to illustrate a feature or a standout image that portrays the right message. As a creative copywriter she works with small and medium-sized businesses to produce content for websites, press releases, social media and marketing material.
She is the former picture editor at Wanderlust and BBC Countryfile magazines and was the development manager of WildPhotos, the photography symposium run by the conservation charity Wildscreen. She has been on the preliminary judging panel of the international Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and is currently one of the writers for the competition book published annually by the Natural History Museum.
In 2016 she was selected as an Ordnance Survey #GetOutside Champion to help inspire more people in the UK to spend time outdoors. Alongside her freelance writing and photography work, she was a part-time journalism lecturer at Exeter College between 2012-18. She holds a first class degree in Journalism from Falmouth University (2001-2004), where she specialised in magazine journalism and photojournalism.
