Tor McIntosh is a writer, photographer and author of the National Trust’s North Devon Coast & Countryside guidebook (2018). As an outdoors enthusiast, nature lover and slow adventurer she writes and photographs nature, travel and outdoor adventure articles for various publications and organisations, including BBC Countryfile, Guardian Labs, National Trust, The Simple Things, Wild Travel, Photography Monthly and Waterfront (Canal and River Trust).
She is the former picture editor at Wanderlust and BBC Countryfile magazines, worked as the assistant editor at Boat International magazine and was the development manager of WildPhotos, the wildlife photography symposium run by the conservation charity, Wildscreen. She has been on the judging panel of the international Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and is currently one of the writers for the competition book published annually by the Natural History Museum.
In 2016 she was selected as an Ordnance Survey #GetOutside Champion to help inspire more people in the UK to spend time outdoors. Alongside her freelance writing and photography work, she is a part-time journalism lecturer at Exeter College. She holds a first class degree in Journalism from Falmouth University (2001-2004), where she specialised in magazine journalism and photojournalism.
